Job Description
Perform welding operations using MIG/MAG welding equipment to join metal components or structures. This involves using an electric arc to melt and fuse metals together.
Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and grinding metal surfaces. Ensure that surfaces are free from contaminants such as rust, paint, or grease.
Set up MIG welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate welding wire, adjusting voltage and wire speed settings, and connecting gas cylinders.
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. This includes the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
Inspect welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Identify and address any defects or irregularities in the welding process.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the welding requirements for a particular project.
Utilize various welding techniques, such as butt welding, fillet welding, and groove welding, depending on the project requirements.
Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure it is in good working condition. Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues as needed.
Work in a variety of settings, including manufacturing plants, construction sites, and fabrication shops. May involve working in confined spaces or at heights.
Coordinate with other team members, including fabricators, engineers, and supervisors, to ensure effective communication and workflow.
Stay updated on industry trends, new welding techniques, and equipment advancements. Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 year(s) of working experience is required.
Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering(Metal Fabrication/Tool & Die/Welding) or similar fields.
