Bookkeeper
Job Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the company. The main duties of a Bookkeeper include posting financial transactions, verifying and allocating transactions, reconciling entries, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. The Bookkeeper will also develop and implement bookkeeping policies and procedures to ensure efficient and accurate financial record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish accounts and post financial transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
Develop a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
Verify and allocate financial transactions to maintain subsidiary accounts.
Reconcile entries to balance subsidiary accounts.
Transfer subsidiary account summaries to maintain the general ledger.
Prepare a trial balance to balance the general ledger and reconcile entries.
File documents to maintain historical records.
Collect, analyze, and summarize account information and trends to prepare financial reports.
Ensure compliance with national and local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions.
Accomplish related results as needed to contribute to the team effort.
Requirements and Skills:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Certification: Certification in bookkeeping or accounting, is an advantage but not necessary.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting is required.
Knowledge of Accounting Principles & Practices: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including financial statement preparation, bookkeeping, and tax laws.
Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented and able to accurately record and analyze financial data.
Analytical Skills: Must be able to analyze financial data and identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate financial information to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Technology Skills: Should be comfortable using accounting software and other financial technology tools.
Organizational Skills: Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines.
Legal Compliance: Knowledge of national and local legal requirements related to financial record-keeping and reporting.
